Marsden Services is proud to announce that this year marks the 55th anniversary of our relationship with the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI). Marsden was a founding member of the BSCAI when the organization was established in 1965. The BSCAI was formed out of a need for a professional association for the building service contractors (BSCs) industry. Along with Marsden, several other key contractors became the initial members of the BSCAI, which has now grown to over 1,000 member companies.
The BSCAI provides opportunities for individuals in the BSC industry to connect, share ideas, and gain knowledge. Over the years, the BSCAI has become a key player in providing and coordinating educational opportunities for BSC employees. The BSCAI’s certification programs have been recognized as an industry standard for excellence, including the Registered Building Service Manager (RBSM) and Certified Building Service Executive (CBSE) certification programs. Most of Marsden’s operational leadership is either RBSM or CBSE-certified, and Marsden employees have participated in numerous other BSCAI training, including the new Disinfection and Safety course.
Marsden’s investment in BSCAI education has also come in the form of financial contributions to the BSCAI to sponsor educational programs. In 2015, the BSCAI created the Skip Marsden Education Excellence Award in honor of Marsden’s founder and former CEO, Skip Marsden. The award is given to companies that invest in the education, growth, and development of their employees and promote leaders from within their organizations.
Marsden’s commitment to the BSCAI has included participation from our staff at the highest levels. Two past BSCAI presidents have been Marsden employees; Skip Marsden, and Tom Kruse, Marsden’s Chief Engagement Officer. Peter Cain, Marsden’s Chief Operating Officer of the Western Division, joined the BSCAI board in 2021. Over the past 55 years, numerous Marsden employees have been BSCAI members and have contributed to the peer-to-peer learning and support that defines the association.
“This is a wonderful accomplishment and a testament to Skip Marsden’s visionary leadership,” said Guy Mingo, the CEO of Marsden Services. “A proud moment for our organization.”
